Hey, friends! Welcome to my brand new blog, The Mermaid on the Mountain. I'm Katie, a mermaid at heart who has found a new home far from the sea, atop the Mountain of Sewanee, Tennessee. I have grown up a short five-minute drive or fifteen-minute bike ride from the beach and never imagined that I would find myself eleven and a half hours from the ocean, but in a mere moment I felt the mountains calling me, and I decided then that it was time to start a new adventure. After a series of crying fits and emotional goodbyes, I took the first big step of my life, getting into the car and leaving my whole world behind. As soon as I passed through the gates of the Domain, though, I had this feeling that I was home. Maybe my heart will always live at the beach, but I believe that my soul resides undiscovered on top of this Mountain, and I am here to find it.
This is the story of my journey to discover myself.
